Assignment Task
Critically analyse how destinations in the UK might leverage Festivals to strategically advance their tourism strategy.
A good answer will:
- Use a wide range of destinations and associated festivals that span cultural and heritage events to illustrate their arguments
- Highlight the benefits / value of festival and events tourism at local, regional and national levels
- Examine the role of UK public sector policy in festival and event tourism development
- Appreciate the need to develop balanced, strategic event portfolios
- Critique and apply (not just describe) a recognised strategic planning approach for the development of festival and events tourism, for example, Bowdin et al. (2011).
