I don’t understand this Environmental Science question and need help to study.
Hydraulic fracturing (fracking) is a relatively new technology that is used to extract oil and natural gas from underground sources. Our text discusses the technology used in fracking as well as some of the problems and benefits associated with its use. Read your text (page 195) and view the video (YouTube #35) on this subject.
Maryland recently passed legislation to ban fracking in the state. What is your position on fracking? In your post, address the following:
- Should fracking be permitted? Would you be ok with fracking if it wasn’t near your home? Should it be allowed anywhere? What about the companies that own land rights and use fracking to increase their profits? Should they be allowed to frack?
- Should fracking be permitted if it leads to lower energy prices and less greenhouse gas emissions?
