Telemedicine
Information technology plays a huge part in telemedicine. The definition of telemedicine is basically the practice of medicine using telecommunications such as two-way video, email, and wireless phones. Examples are:
- Teleradiology, the practice of radiology using telecommunications.
- Telecardiology, the practice of cardiology using telecommunications.
- Teledermatolgy, the practice of dermatology using telecommunications networks.
- Teleneurology, the practice of providing care to stroke victims remotely.
For this discussion, you describe at least two innovations of telemedicine and how they impact patient care. In addition, you identify a medical subspecialty such as teleradiology or telecardiology and explain what it is and how it functions.
