The idea of conducting research and gathering all the relevant information proved relevant and useful to me in critical thinking. The short clip on TED Talk regarding critical thinking has enlightened me on the significance of gathering information. Information gathered exposes one to various ideas regarding their respective issue, thus enabling them to make an informed decision.
Wikipedia is not a credible source for academic purposes because its coverage and content accuracy align with the societal interest rather than academic value. Therefore, it limits learners from accessing all important and factual information necessary to facilitate their studies. In addition, Wikipedia information is unreliable because it constantly changes depending on the reviews and contributions, making it difficult to use as a reference.
Information literacy will allow me to be more critical of my academic research by carefully evaluating information sources, a thorough sieve of the information collected, and making an informed decision regarding my research. In addition, it will empower me to learn on my own, thus adding more value to my life.
