I’m studying for my Writing class and need an explanation.
Activity #1
This is one of the few independent measures of your work quality. I encourage you to take your time, write on a university-appropriate level (correct grammar, spelling, format, etc.), and edit all work prior to submission.
Your assignment is to perform three distinct activities using your non-dominant hand. For instance, if you typically use your right hand to brush your teeth, use your left hand. Choose three activities that are “second-nature” and that you perform on a daily basis (such as: brushing teeth, texting, etc.). *ONLY choose safe activities*! This is NOT an activity about adapting to a physical disability, but about experiencing a barrier between “knowing and doing.”
After completing your activities, respond to the following questions. Your responses should be thorough, complete, and based on the knowledge you have learned thus far. I encourage you to review and edit (as appropriate) your responses prior to submission.
- Describe your three non-dominant hand activities. Reflect on any barriers or difficulties you encountered. How does this activity link to specific learning disabilities?
- As an educator, how can you support children who encounter difficulties in their learning – both on an academic and social/emotional level?
- Describe a segment from the FAT City Video briefly. Then write about how it impacted you and how it will impact you as a future educator. https://fod-infobase-com.manowar.tamucc.edu/p_ViewVideo.aspx?xtid=41096
- After having explored learning disabilities, communication disorders, emotional and behavioral disabilities, and attention deficit disorder, describe how these disabilities may affect one another. Also describe why, in your opinion, some teachers may not initially think that these students have disabilities.Have fun learning with this activity!

ADHD Activity #2 (this one is a separate paper)
Although the general population uses ADD and ADHD interchangeably, there is a difference. As you know from your course materials, there are three types of Attention Deficit and/or Hyperactivity Disorders. You have an activity that is worth 5 points. Please briefly write about the following items:
- Share your experience with either the Visual or Auditory Misunderstood Minds Activity.
- As a future educator, describe at least three strategies that you could implement to support children who have ADHD.
- Could other students benefit from these strategies? Explain.
